How can I start my own music on my laptop?

I start my own songs on my laptop Dell Studio. I play guitar and sing a bit, but need some software for drums, so I buy an idea Ovation acoustic-electric guitar, which records what you play MP3 and can on the laptop via USB Loading. I had a look at some programs such as Ableton and Fruityloops, but I'm not sure it would be appropriate for a beginner who wants only the guitar, Vocals, percussion, add some realistic (ie non-dance rhythms), and samples of other songs I have in my library. So my questions are: that the production software would be best, and what software options available for cheap basic drums? (I do not want to pay for a drum yet) I would appreciate any advice, thanks!
