Custom Acoustic Guitar Pickguards

Help customizing guitar?
I am trying to customize an acoustic. 2 questions….
1) I want to paint small designs on the bridge. Any idea of what kind of paint to use (look best and last)? And should I use any special tool?
2)Anyone know how to make a custom pickguard (etched design)? What tools are best and what is the best method. I have been practicing on some cheap pickguards and they keep cracking.
A good acrylic (not sure I spelled that correctly) paint would be best for the bridge, but it takes a pro with the right tools for etching.Whatever you do,do not paint the sound board (top ) or the fret board. You can buy some beautiful custom pick guards, but they are not cheap. My advice is if it is a cheap guitar,it is not worth the money to put much money into making it look pretty, and if it is an expensive guitar, don’t mess with it.You cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear,but it is really easy to screw up a good guitar if you don’t know what you are doing.
