Buy Acoustic Guitar Inlays

Painting inlays on my guitar?
I have a crappy $50 acoustic guitar. it doesn’t have any inlays so i wanted to put some on. which costs more than the guitar is worth. so i wanted to paint them on. i unstrung it and bought new strings and i have nail polish and just regular paint. and i was wondering. will the nail polish or paint make the sound of the strings weird when i push it on that fret? and will the nail polish or paint just scrape off? what if i use a clear nail polish that makes it shiny (don’t know what its called)? wood finish? any other ideas?
thanks for your help in advance!
It will scrape off as soon as you start playing the guitar.
