Acoustic Guitar World

Im looking for an all tube Acoustic guitar amp head. HELP i cant find any!?

basically, recently i discovered i can use my Bugera 6262-212 120 watt tube amp as a cab for a 16omp amp head. (omp, ohp, onp, i dont know which is the abbreviation to use but u get my point i guess). Were starting to play live, and the Bugera dosnt sound really good clean even with my Taylors pickups. It would make a world of difference if i could get a acoustic guitar head, but all of them are solid state or mixed, and plenty of people told me would not work.

I really need some help, our PA is packed with keyboard and vocal tracks…

And it would REALLY HELP if i could find an amp i could use that i can also plug a vocal microphone into..

i know this isn’t really a legit question, but please if you know any brands to check, or any other possibilities i could use to get a great live sound, please do.

Or if you want to sell something that could help, im buying.

hey buddy.. it says the questions been deleted.. sorry man.

I really have NO IDEA what you’re talking about. Do you mean 16 ohm? Because that’s not an abbreviation, it’s the whole word. And how do you use the Bugera as a cab? Is there a separate input in the back to bypass the amp entirely and plug straight into the speakers? That would be a pretty nifty feature, but I’ve never heard of it being done. I can’t find anything about it in the product manual either.

If you’re plugging another amp into the Bugera’s input, you’re an idiot! That impedance switch is so you can hook it up to a speaker cabinet, not so you can plug another amp into it. There is that preamp out jack (a really cool feature) so that you can send the signal from the Bugera to another amp, but there’s nothing on there that allows you to isolate the cabinet. You’ve got a really nice amp, and it sounds to me like you’re going to break it.

Of course, you may just be confused about which is the amp head, and which is the speaker cab (I don’t know how though, it seems obvious). The Bugera is a combo amp/cab. A speaker cab is… well… a box with speakers in it. An amp head is just the amplifier portion.

You should be plugging your vocal mics into the house PA… you don’t need an amp for them. How many inputs does your keyboard player use up? How many mics do you usually run? If you’re out of room on the PA, you need to think about economizing.

You typically plug acoustic guitars into the PA too, using a direct box, which the venue can usually supply. If you want an acoustic amp, buy an acoustic amp! It doesn’t matter if they are solid state, since the big benefit of tubes is the distortion. Tube amps sound dirty… just how it is. Some are pretty clean, but solid state amps are much cleaner in general.

So anyways, you can’t use the Bugera as a cab for another amp, and if it’s too dirty by itself, using a different cab won’t change that much (the amp itself is where the dirt is coming from). If you have an additional speaker cab that you want to use, and are looking for an acoustic amp head to use on it, here’s a few:

Of course, it would make more sense to buy an acoustic combo amp. Here’s a bunch of them:

The best recommendation I can make is that you go to the store and try out a few amps. You can even bring your guitar with you so you know EXACTLY how it will sound through that amp.

Your question is still bizarre though, if you’re only playing the acoustic, buy an acoustic amp or plug into the PA. If you’re playing acoustic and electric, you’re going to need a separate amp for each. The Bugera cannot be used as a cab, so you will either need an acoustic combo amp, or an amp and cab. If you go with the amp and cab, you could certainly send the signal from the Bugera to that cabinet as well, although the speakers in the Bugera are likely better suited to that amp than the ones in a cab designed for use with acoustic guitar amplifiers.
