Acoustic Guitar Soloing Lesson

i have just started playing electric guitar?
i have usually always played acoustic. i have not had any lessons yet, so all my songs on the elec guitar sound just like an acoustic style. how do i play heavy metal songs, and how do i get that awesome sound guitarist have when they do a solo? i have heaps of pedals and stuff, i just dont know how to move on from the acoustic sound…
dam im jealous *heaps of pedals and stuff*… well i think the most important part of playing heavy metal and most rock is a the ability to play power chords. Power chords are simply chords that only use the ‘top’ three notes on a major (or minor chord). Power chords have that kind of solid sound that makes up the majority of electric rhythm playing in rock. It all depends on the bands you like. Metallica use lots of power chords combined with palm muted open 6th string tremolo, guns and roses also use lots of power chords. To be honest its gonna be hard to advise you without knowing your playing ability. I will tell you that you don’t need a great deal of pedals to play anything really. That awesome sound you refer to is probably just good skill (anyone can do it with practice)… i mean a solo is just notes played high up on the fret bored linked with bends and hammer on’s. If you can read tab (guessing you can) you should go to ultimate-guitar.com they’ve got tab for almost every song ever written! I feel i’ve given an incomplete answer to this because im unsure of your current ability sorry… if you email me or with a better question i will try again.
