Acoustic Guitar Slide Tips
Guitar help please? Basically to do with the strings =)?
Hey- I play the acoustic guitar, but I am planning to buy an electro acoustic guitar for Christmas! =D
But anyway, i have an old acoustic guitar with nylon strings. I can play that- no probs.
I tried playing my Dad’s guitar a couple of times, but it has steel strings, and when i try to play tabs, I can’t play it, cos my fingers squeak along the string when I try to slide =( If you get what I mean.
SO, I was wondering…
Do you have any tips on how to learn to tab on a steel stringed guitar?
and is it possible to get an electroacoustic guitar with nylon strings??

BTW- I’m not saying I would put nylon strings on a steel stringed one!!! No, no, no, no- I would never do that!
Their is no special technique but to squeeze harder and / or mute the strings slightly between the changes by resting your left-hand on the strings.
Acoustic guitar are much harder to press or finger than electric guitars. Still, you need to bend the first joint of the thumb of the fretting hand. This will allow you to add more pressure easily. Also, make sure teh palm is parallel to the fingerboard and that your first joints are bend so that they act like little hammers.
I am not under-estimating your abilities but sometimes, its good to point out certain techniques. Also, play directly behind the fret for a better tone.
For that squeak you hear, it is more pronounced on newer strings and even the pros can accidently have that squeak which is why they break the strings in , first.
As for the electro-acoustic nylong string guitar, NO. You CAN buy a nylon electric although. Takamine make them and they play really really well. They are inexpensive and their finish and sound is well worth the investment.
