Buying a acoustic guitar for the first time?

I want to learn to play the acoustic guitar so I can write my own simple songs or do covers. What kind of guitar should I buy? What are the guidelines? Like how many inches, etc. Thanks.

Acoustic 38 inches will do check out ebay they have plenty of them for under $40 they are pretty good I got one my self.
